UMBRIA
The
region of Umbria is located in the central part of Italy. The territory
of this region is essentially hilly and very green and there aren't accesses
to the sea since it is surrounded by other regions such as the Marche,
Toscana and Lazio.
The Tevere river crosses Umbria and in its territory there is Lake Trasimeno,
one of the largest lakes in Italy. Umbria is a very green region and its
vegetation is awfully developed thanks to its abundant water resources.
The capital city is Perugia, the other province is Terni, even though
there are other important centres, for instance Spoleto, Foligno, Città
di Castello and Gubbio.
Tourism
in Umbria.
There isn't as much tourism in Umbria as there could be, probably because
the region is a bit closed off and not served very well as far as means
of transportation are concerned. Nevertheless, there are some areas that
are extremely visited, for instance Assisi, aim of tourists and pilgrims
and Orvieto, artistic and historic centre.
