LOMBARDIA
Lombardy
is located on the north-west side of the Italian peninsula. Its territory
is mainly plains although it is mountainous for about 40%. This region
has a great deal of lakes and rivers which have their source in the northern
Alps. The main river is the Po, which is the longest in Italy, but there
are also other important rivers such as the Ticino, Oglio, Adda and Mincio.
A part of the Garda lake is in the territory of Lombardia, just as other
large lakes like the Como Lake, Maggiore Lake, Lugano, Iseo and Idro Lakes.
The region of Lombardia has many mountains which reach about 4000 meters
such as the tops of some of the Bernina group. The capital city of the
region is Milan, large metropolis and important financial centre, boast
of our economy. Other important province cities are: Brescia, Bergamo,
Monza, Como and Varese.
